A lot of products we buy used to be made by hand with simple tools by people around the corner in small workshops. The only reason this isn't happening anymore is the costprice driven efficiency. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it makes us forget we can actually make things ourself if we want to. It just takes some time, patience and tools.
